I hate the Chicago Cubs with a passion that would make Adolf Hitler blush

Let me preface this post by saying that I hate the Chicago Cubs with a passion that would make Adolf Hitler blush.  And at the top of my list is Carlos Zambrano.  He’s like the 9th-grader you knew in high school that looked like a 12th-grader but reads at a 4th-grade level.  I hate how overrated he is, I hate watching him scream after strikeouts like he just won the World Series and I hate how much he reminds me of a time before humans had opposable thumbs.  Needless to say I wasn’t pleased with the outcome of Friday night’s game.  I’d go into the details but I can’t afford anymore Tequila.

Saturday’s pummeling of Chicago was much more enjoyable.  How about Chris Narveson so far?  13 shutout innings to start the season, 14 strikeouts and only 4 walks… and when you tack that on to how he ended 2010 you’re looking at an impressive stretch of pitching.  We’ve got Narveson doing his best Nolan Ryan impression, Gallardo handing out 2-hitters, Marcum looking better and better each inning, Greinke finally throwing bullpen sessions and set to return in 2-3 weeks, and Randy Wolf… well, 4 out of 5 ain’t bad.  With all of this, I’d say Brewer fans have good reason to be optimistic about the season.

When this team is firing on all cylinders they teeter on unbeatable.  Weeks, Braun, Fielder, Greinke, Marcum and Gallardo are world-class talents, and with guys like Narveson, Marco Estrada and Nyger Morgan (aka Tony Plush) overachieving they’re going to win a lot of games.  Speaking of Tony Plush, I’m convinced this guy is clinically insane.  Watch him at the plate next game.  He talks to himself, he’s constantly making creepy faces, and not to mention his twitter page reads like the ramblings of a meth addict.  Even the catcher and umpire look around like they expect an orderly to come haul him off in handcuffs.  That being said, he’s arguably playing better than anybody on the team.  It’s a mathematical impossibility for him to keep this up but I’m going to enjoy it while I can.

On Sunday Gallardo and the Crew will try to take the series from Chicago as well as get back to .500 on the young season.  And they’ll try and do it against Casey Coleman who only has 8 career starts, none in 2011.  Barring some kind of mental letdown by Gallardo from his 2-hitter, this one might get ugly early.  I’m expecting Sunday’s game to go pretty much like Saturday’s did; either 6-1 or 6-2 in favor of the Brewers.  And if I’m wrong and Milwaukee loses, there’s always Tequila.
