1. Manny retired today. He was busted for a banned substance and instead of riding out a hundred game suspension, he decided to leave the game. Good. As funny as his antics were from a distance, part of me can't help but feel for the fans of the teams he fucked in the last couple of years. He pulled a Shef in Boston, not hustling out ground balls, rolling over balls in the outfield and such. He managed to get himself traded to the Dodgers, and helped them get to the playoffs. He suckered McCourt into a very large contract and got busted for a banned substance, which he sat 50 games for. After playing sub-par, he was sent packing to Chicago, where he played like shit and was hurt. He then got the Rays to sign him for one year, two million dollars. The Rays were desperate after loosing Soriano and Crawford to free agency, and need to make a splash. Little did they know, Manny was still using and got busted during spring training. This may be the best thing for the Rays, they will probably get out of paying him and don't have to deal with his bullshit the rest of the season. Hell, the first game after he retired just happened to be the first win of the season.
2. Two players have been hurt in the last two days after guys slid into them trying to break up a double play. Nishioka of the Twins, got his fibula broke by Nick Swisher and Han Ram of the Marlins was injured today after Bill Hall slid into him. To me, both plays looked a little shady, Swisher's looked better but, his slide started a little late. The Twins didn't publicly criticize him, but I'll say it looked a little off. I understand it's part of the game, but come on. Part of the problem was Nishioka's failure to get out of the way, he planted his feet and didn't move. Bill Hall's slide looked even worse, he slid after the bag and took out Hanley. My hatred for Bill Hall aside, I would have criticized this if it was a favorite Brewer just the same. I don't want to pussify the sport, but don't be cheap either.
3.Nyjer Morgan Tony Plush has been playing very well since coming to the Brewers. Mr. Plush has a batting average of .500 and went 2 for 3 against the Cubs. His Plushdementals are strong and I was wrong about Nyjer being crazy. He is on the up and up after all. Crazy or not, Nyjer/Tony can keep up whatever antics he wants on Twitter as long as he keeps producing and his P.I.T.A. (pain in the ass) level doesn't go up too much. If it starts interfering with the team, Prince will straighten his ass out. Check out his twitter thing @tony_plush.
That's it for tonight. Check back in the next couple of days, we plan on recording sometime this weekend, feel free to email us any topics you would like us to talk about on the podcasts or blog posts. brewcrew365@gmail.com.
Thanks.
