Another reason I hate basketball...

So Zack Greinke hurt his ribs playing a pick up game of basketball? Goddammit. One more reason to hate this sport. Professional basketball drives me bat shit crazy, especially when it starts interfering with the baseball season. Last year, the Bucks were in the playoffs and I still couldn't make myself watch a playoff game. But, neither could ninety nine percent of the state. College ball is alright to watch, but give me baseball, football or even golf over it any day. How are the Bucks doing this year? And they play them over the Crew a couple of times early in the season anyways. A damn shame, I say.

Now onto the Greinke injury. Was it a bone headed thing to do? Yes, he said as much in an interview today. Can't blame the guys for wanting to have a good time, at least he wasn't driving a motor cycle without a helmet (and allegedly raping women) right Big Ben? Boys will be boys afterall. Now the real question, what does this mean to the season and who will take his spot?

What this means: We hopefully only miss him for a couple of weeks into the season and we lose a couple more games because of it. Sure this sucks but it isn't the end of the world. The old adage, you can't win the division in April, is true. So don't fret just yet. We didn't get CC till the trade deadline, right?

Who will take his spot: Who knows. It most likely won't be Mark Rogers, he has been out or slowed down since his shoulder stiffness. While Rogers is cleared to throw BP, bringing him to the big leagues for three or four starts is risky. He only has one option left and if we send him back down, he is out of options, may not be worth it for a handful of fill in starts.  It won't be Manny Parra, he has been slowed down due to back stiffness. Hell stiffies all around. Besides we know Manny doesn't have what it takes to be a starter. I wish he did, I like the guy. We won't go out and pick up a starter for those starts either, not worth it. So anybody's guess is as good as mine.

UPDATE: Rogers will have to to be optioned to the minors if he doesn't make the team, so my point above is pointless. Thanks to Haudricourt for this info.

We'll be fine, don't sweat it yet.
