Fire, sell and hope it's better in 2012

As if things couldn't get any worse, the Crew just completed a series in which they got swept by the previously miserable Giants. We managed to lose our best pitcher for a couple of weeks along with any hope of reaching the playoffs this year or next. Now that we have officially imploded and quit trying, it's time to make some moves.

1. Fire: Macha and Melvin. They are the reason we are in such a horrible state. Macha couldn't motivate his own dick into a hookers mouth let alone fire his team to win a game. It's sad, but I'd rather have Nedly back. Now is the time to get rid of Macha and let Randolph finish the season out. We are out of the playoffs, might as well see if the guys respond better to him. Hell, let Sveum back in, can't hurt. Randolph seems to work well with the infielders, even if we don't keep him past this year, he'll fill in well enough. I'm not expecting a Rockies style comeback, I'm not crazy. Melvin needs to go too, he put us in this predicament. After years of terrible trades and signings, it has finally bit us in the ass. He hasn't been able to sign a decent starting pitcher or trade for one since he came over. He has made a couple of good scrap heap signings, but if you make enough of them, you'll eventually strike. Get rid of him before he can make any bad trades this year.

2. Sell: We need to start shopping some guys. These guys include a lot of fan poplular players. I know, this is going to burn some bridges but trust me, it's good for the long run. I'm saying we need to trade for quality not quantity too. Don't just trade to trade. But we need to shop Prince first and foremost. He is the big guy who plays first. He WILL be gone after next year and we don't have the pieces to compete next year, so he sould go. Trade him for the qualitly pitching we desperatly need. He will bring in a no.2 starter and a good reliever/pitching prospect. We have guys in place that can fill in, not replace, but fill in at first. McGehee and Gamel could both do the job and get the experience for  a run in a couple of years. The other guys we should look at shopping are as follows: Hart, Hoffman, Counsell, Davis, Riske, Narveson, and Edmonds. All these guys have qualities that teams in contention could use and we don't need for the future. They all have replacements in the wings or already in the bigs. Again, don't trade them just to trade them, Hart for Sanchez isn't that good of a deal, we don't need another project lefty: see Manny Parra. Here is my untouchable list: Braun, Gallardo, Axford, Braddock, and Escobar. Loe is close to that list too. This is the list of guys that I'd listen to offers on but, better blow your socks off to get them: Weeks, McGehee and Parra. I know what you are thinking, Parra? Yes, give him the rest of the year.

3. Hope it's better in 2012: We better, because if we don't, we won't have any reason to watch the team for the next year and a half.

No matter how bad we get, I'll keep posting. Look for another podcast in the next couple of days, I've got some hot shit to spit on the next one.

Thanks. Ronald
