Trevor Hoffman: Exit Stage Right
Fuck.
Fuck No.
Fuckin Sick.
Three phrases that went through my head when Trevor Hoffman gave us his fifth blown save of the season. Thanks for the gift, now beat it. I'm sick of defending guys that cannot record one out without giving up multiple runs. At this point, I'm hoping for some more losses prior to the visit to Target Field. Does that come off as shitty? Yes, but something has to give. Is it Macha's fault? Not completely, but I'll get to that later. First, Hoffman. Dude, you have to go, and I don't mean to another role or the DL. You can't be the setup guy, you can't be counted on to record the outs. We already have one overpaid mop up guy in Suppan, we don't need another. Seven point five million dollars. That is how much we've paid you for this? C'mon bud. Am I coming off as whiney? Sure, but what fan isn't at this point. To the fans calling me a non-fan, fuck that, if these performances don't piss you off, take the blinders off. At this point I don't think Hoffman will even get to 600 saves as a Brewer. Take the poster down at Miller Park and auction it off to some local charity or use the money to cover Hoffman's bad contract. As Bryan asked in a text, "Any word if we released Trevor or if we threw him off the plane without a chute?" Hopefully the first option, but at this point I'd settle for the latter.
Now let's go onto our second issue. Macha and his lack of heart.
I don't know what happens behind the scenes and in the locker room, but in the dugout Ken looks like a lost old man. He looks out of touch with what is going on out on the field. I've never seen another coach sit and let his players take heat from the umps and not have their back. I've watched guys argue calls and strikes and Macha just sits on his dumb ass on the top step and picks his nose. How does a guy keep so calm in the dugout, when his seat is so hot at this point? Get fired up. Get pissed. Sit some fuckers who aren't hitting. Grow a pair. We've lost eight in a row now, make a move. Weeks isn't hitting, sit him. I'm not saying we need a guy like Lou, Ozzie or even Gardy, but at least they can speak up. Yost had his guys back more than this fuckin guy. Ken, muttering shit under your breath in between picking your nose isn't helping anybody, not your cause or your players.
That's all for now, I gotta sleep. Look for a Twins/Brewers preview Podcast coming Thursday night or Friday morning.
